ALTHOUGH data security, protection and modernization, among others, dominated discussion at the just concluded EMC World forum held in Las Vegas, the United States of America, major highlight at the forum was how the merger of EMC and Dell would unlock the future of cloud infrastructure in the Information Technology industry.

Meanwhile, after the conclusion of the merger, the new company will be known as Dell Technologies.
With the new development, EMC will have access to Dell’s hardware and the computer maker will have access to the EMC’s enterprise solutions helping to push Dell’s business from the stagnant consumer personal computing market.
EMC World is an annual gathering of its customers, partners, industry analysts and members of the global media.
Meanwhile, EMC Unity solution, a new family of storage system that helps simplify and modernize the data center, multiple new modern data center products and services that are fundamental to customers’ modern data center transformation initiatives, Enterprise Copy Data Management (eCDM), that enables organizations regain control of the spiraling costs of storing and managing multiple copies of the same data, among others were solutions unveiled at the forum.
At the forum which had the theme ‘Modernize’, participants were afforded the opportunity to see new products and innovative services from EMC. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of EMC Joe Tucci and Micheal Dell, Chief Executive Officer of Dell, shared their company visions and unveiled predictions for the future of the market place. In his keynote speech, Tucci told the gathering that the merger will mark the beginning of something great in the global IT ecosystem.
The event had many sessions including, ‘beyond boundaries’, EMC for the digital era, exploring the conceptual boundaries of transformation, modernizing your data center, unlocking trapped value, modernize your business, data persistence in the new era of container world, among others.
Tucci noted that among the prospects of the industry the merger of his company and Dell would definitely unlock the future of cloud infrastructure in the 21st century economy.
According to him, “We will create technologies that will define the future. We will build infrastructure of the world. We are going to create something different. We are going to create innovative cloud solutions. We will help companies around the world to adapt to digital revolution with the cloud based solutions to be created. Be rest assured that data is secured in our cloud”
For Micheal Dell, “EMC and Dell will be the major cloud infrastructure provider of the world”. According to him, the combination of the two tech firms would bring together the very best in the entire ecosystem.
“This is a new beginning. We are building essential technology in the modern data center to take you to the digital economy. With the two companies combined, our company, our customers and our partners will stand at the centre of the world’s technology infrastructure. This means that we stand at the centre of human progress”, he told the gathering.
