By Festus Ahon
ASABA—Delta State Government has restated it’s commitment to the welfare of students originating from the state in tertiary institutions within and outside the country.
Secretary of state Bursary and Scholarship Board, Elijah Ologe, disclosed this to newsmen in Asaba.
Assuring students of the state government’s readiness to sustain the Students Special Assistant Scheme, SSAS and other scholarship schemes of the board, Ologe said that the 2015/2016 SSAS and other scholarship schemes were being looked into.
Noting that the delay in the payment was due to ongoing verification being embarked on by the board, he said that the exercise was to ensure that only qualified students of the state origin benefits from the schemes.
He urged the students to be patient with the government, adding: “Governor Okowa is concerned about the wellbeing of all Deltans.”
