CHILDREN’S DAY: Senate c’ttees visit IDP camps

ABUJA—THE Senate, yesterday, mandated its joint committees of Women Affairs and Health to visit all the Internally Displaced Persons’ camps to assess the health and welfare situation of women and children in the camps.

The Senate also urged all the states yet to do so, to look into the implemen-tation and enforcement of the Child Rights Act.

Also yesterday, Senate commended the initiative of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, that medical doctors and other health professionals be deployed to IDP camps.

The resolutions were sequel to a motion spon-sored by Chairman, Senate Committee on Women Affairs, Senator Oluremi Tinubu (APC, Lagos Central), co-sponsored by eight other members of the committee and entitled 2016 Children’s Day Celebration: Stop Violence Against Children.
