A video of an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), slapping a commuter and threatening him with ‘Oruka’ (charm), has emerged on the social media.
The video posted by a twitter user with the handle, @AmbodeObsarver, showed a yet-to-be-identified official of LASTMA slapping a commuter who was seen cleaning a car. After the slap, the official charged at him, raining curses and threatening to use charm on the commuter but he was restrained by an on-looker.
In a similar event in 2014, Taye Shittu, an official of the transport management agency was arrested by policemen attached to Pen Cinema Police Station for allegedly slapping a Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Komolafe Abimbola, of Court 2, Ikeja, Lagos.
The video emerged on the same day that the Governor of the state, Akinwunmi Ambode, rewarded two police officers with commendation letters and N250, 000 cash each, for the recovery of N5 million which fell-off a bullion van around Alausa, Ikeja.
