Ado-Ekiti—The remains of the six medical doctors and their driver who died on Sunday along Kaduna/Abuja road arrived the state in seven ambulances yesterday evening.

The doctors lost their lives on their way to attend the Annual General Meeting of the Nigeria Medical Association in Sokoto.

The six doctors were: Tunde Aladesanmi, former chairman of Ekiti NMA and Chief Surgeon at the FETHI; Ojo Taiwo: 1st Vice Chairman Ekiti NMA and Consultant Pathologist at EKSUTH; NMA Secretary, Akinyele Alex; NMA Secretary and Resident Doctor, FETHI,  J. Ogunseye of the Health Management Board.

Others were, Olayiwola Olajide;   President, EKSUTH Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), Dr Adeniyi James of the FETHI and their driver, Mr. Moses  Ajibola.

The governor, Ayodele Fayose, dressed in black attire with a black fez cap, in company with some government officials, including the Deputy Governor, Dr. Kolapo Olusola, received the bodies at the popular Fajuyi Park from where the ambulances took the bodies to the morgue of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital.

The ambulances conveying their bodies was accompanied by a convoy of several vehicles and security men including policemen, officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Civil Defense and Department of State Service.

Six survivors of the accident, including the state Chairman of the NMA, Dr. John Akinbote, dressed in black attires, accompanied the ambulances who came by road in a convoy of cars.

Fayose, who spoke to journalists after depositing the corpses in the morgue, promised to immortalise the doctors and assist their families.

The Chief Medical Director of EKSUTH, Dr. Kolawole Ogundipe, said the corpses were being deposited at the morgue to enable their families be able to identify them for easy identification.

One of the victims, Dr Aladesanmi will be buried today.
