Jos—In line with its resolve to create employment and boost its internally generated revenue, Plateau State government has signed an agreement with an indigenous beverage company, Hummer Drinks, to revamp Highland Bottling Company after it was abandoned 21 years ago in Barkin Ladi local government area of the state.

Signing the agreement on behalf of the government in Jos, Chairman of the Technical Board of Plateau Investment and Property Company, PIPC, Mr. Ezekiel Gomos, said the move was to realize one of the campaign promises of Governor Simon Lalong, to revitalize moribund and non-functional industries in the state.

According to him, since 1995 when the fortunes of the company dwindled, the state had been searching for a technical partner to revive the company, stressing that the signing of the agreement, was the beginning of a big journey ahead.

With the agreement, Hummer Drinks will have 67% equity holding, while the PIPC will have 33%, a deviation from the former practice where the state owned the larger percentage.
