The Ekarde Patriots Association, EPA, has called for the probe of Setraco Nigeria Limited, the construction company handling the Gbaregolor-Gbekebor-Ogulagha bridges in Delta State.
In a statement by Chief Andrew Elijah, the group accused Setraco of allegedly using substandard materials in the construction of roads and bridges in the Niger Delta.
He said: “The substandard job which led to cracks on the Gbaregolor/Esanma bridge that was completed December, 2015, has made the bridge impassable. The road construction which spanned 2009 to 2015, is not in the interest of the people who have suffered prolonged infrastructural deprivation.”
The group called on Delta State Government, ministers, senators and appropriate bodies to carry out integrity test on every project, especially bridges, adding that “riverine communities expect quality projects considering the terrain.”
