Edo commissioner wants APC guber aspirant disqualified

By Simon Ebegbulem

BENIN—Edo State Commissioner for Energy and Water Resources, Mr Washington Osifo, has called for the disqualification of a governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr Blessing Agbomhere, over alleged unwarranted attack on Governor Adams Oshiomhole.

The governorship aspirant had in a press conference, declared that if elected governor, he would probe the administration of Governor Oshiomhole in the award of contract for the construction of Airport Road and other deals executed by Oshiomhole’s administration.

But describing the comment as irresponsible and anti-party, Osifo said:  ‘’Because this man is a stranger in a state he wants to govern, he is the only person who does not know what transpired at the Airport Road contract.

‘’After the first contractor messed up the job, the governor revoked it and re-awarded the job to a better contractor and the road is beautiful today.

“To even show his humility, Oshiomhole apologized to Edo people for that blunder. So I am shocked that a man who wants to govern the state and aspiring on the platform of APC can speak so irresponsibly against the governor who is the leader of the party in the state.

‘’I call on the leadership of our party to expel him and disqualify him from the contest. After all, he is not known, even in his village.

“If you are serious in contesting for the office of the governor, the least you can do for the party that produces the governor is to, at least, have respect for the governor because when you are casting aspersions on the governor, you are equally casting aspersions on the party.”
