BENIN—THE Chief priest (Ohen-Ogba) of Aruogba community in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State, Pa Clifford Omosomwan, was beheaded, yesterday.
His assailants reportedly gained access to his house through the window at 1a.m., shot him on the head twice and beheaded him.
Family sources said he was partially blind before he was killed.
At press time, policemen were said to have been drafted to the troubled Aruogba community, while the body of the slain priest was said to have been deposited at the Military Hospital morgue in Benin.
Meanwhile, there were fears last night that a resident of Abonnema, headquarters of Akuku Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, simply identified as Ipalibo, was shot dead by gunmen on Tuesday.
Community sources said Ipalibo, said to be a leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ward 3 in the council, was killed, while the assailant disappeared with his corpse.
When contacted, the Police said that they were only aware that he was kidnapped.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Ahmad Muhammad said that one person was arrested in connection with the kidnap and was assisting the Police in its investigation.
