The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kogi State, Kingsley Fanwo has condemned the use of press to discredit the good intentions of Governor Yahaya Bello to construct state-of-the-art roundabouts in the state, saying the sponsors of such spurious press attacks are “enemies of the state who are bent on playing politics with the development of the confluence city”.
Speaking exclusively to Vanguard News from Nairobi, Fanwo said Kogi State would not be held down by politicians who are alien to the history of growth in the state.
He said the Governor pulled the roundabouts down because their quality is strange to the New Direction status of the state.
“We have watched how some disgruntled politicians have been making issues out of the pulling don of the obsolete roundabouts in the state capital.
They have rushed to the press to discredit the good intentions of the State Government at making the state capital one of the most attractive in the nation.
The criticism of the enemies of the state would not in anyway distract the Governor from achieving his set out plans.
“Of most incredulity is the claim that the government was searching for amulets under the roundabouts.
If previous governments were operating on metaphysics, the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello doesn’t believe in that.
The Governor is determined to develop the state and her people.
If we must attract investors and tourists, we need an environment that will make them comfortable.
To the Governor, the task of beautifying Lokoja and other towns and villages in the state is inalienable”.
Fanwo thanked members of the 4th Estate of the Realm for their unbiased reporting of government activities so far, reiterating the determination of the present administration in the state to work effectively with the media in mobilizing the people of the state for the common purpose of development.
