ABEOKUTA—No fewer  than 10 persons reportedly lost their lives, while six others sustained injuries in an auto crash yesterday at the Ajebo end of Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.

An eyewitness said the accident involved a fully-loaded Mazda commercial bus with number plates Lagos APP 912 XH and Iveco truck, marked Agege GGE 338 XL at about 2.10p.m.

Confirming the accident, Head of Operations, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Ogun State Command, Deputy Corps Commander Divis Ogiamiem, said the accident was caused by wrongful overtaking by the bus driver.

He said the bus, travelling from Ibadan to Lagos, overtook another vehicle at a section of the road where there was traffic diversion, and rammed into the oncoming truck.

Ogiamiem said the corpses had been deposited in the mortuary of Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu.

He added that the six injured passengers were also receiving treatment in the same hospital.
