JALINGO—GOVERNOR Darius Ishaku of Taraba State has suspended seven district heads for allocating lands belonging to Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, to unidentified persons within their domains.

Gov. Ishaku-Darius

The governor suspended the district heads after a meeting held at the government house in Jalingo Taraba state capital over security reports that indicted the chiefs.

The traditional rulers were at government house Jalingo to congratulate the Governor  over his recent victory at Supreme Court, but were shocked when Governor Ishaku turned the courtesy call into security meeting.

Sources close to the governor revealed to Vanguard that the governor could not wait for another opportunity than yesterday to move against the indicted chiefs as the security information before him were capable of igniting yet another communal crisis in the state.

Addressing the traditional rulers in the meeting the governor frown at the traditional rulers who were supposed to help the government to maintain peace and order in the state  but rather engaged in act that were causing more harm to the people.

“Security reports have shown that personals of the traditional institutions in Bali and Gasol local government areas of Taraba state were directly involved and responsible for allocating lands that belong to the IDPs to unknown immigrants either for financial gains or because they do not want the IDPs back to their land because of tribe and religious sentiments.“
