UGHELLI—TWO gunmen, yesterday afternoon, stormed the Ughelli North council secretariat and made away with an unspecified sum of money meant for members of the council’s corporative society.

Though details of the incident was sketchy as at press time, a female staff of the council, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the hoodlums came in a motorcycle, and collected the money from the boot of the car belonging to an official of the cooperative.

According to the source, the cooperative official had withdrawn the said money from a new generation bank in Ughelli and went straight to the secretariat from where the money would be disbursed to members.

The source said: “He was in one of the offices at the secretariat, when he suddenly looked outside and saw the hoodlums making away with the money.”
