ON assumption of office May 29, 2015, the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari promised to encourage accountability, transparency and good governance and wage a war against corruption in every Ministry, Department or Agency of Federal Government. As an agency of Government the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in discharge of its statutory obligations under the Companies and Allied Matters Act 1990 and in response to the call for the fight against corruption organised a training for all its executive officers (assistant and deputy directors) themed “Attaining Excellence in Leadership and Governance” at the Sheraton Lagos, Hotel.
The 2 weeks training organized by Paramount Global Consult Limited an international consultancy firm focused on the core principles of effective leadership and corporate governance. According to Mr Dupe Derby, CEO of Paramount Global Consulting Ltd (UK) “it is now imperative for all senior executives of public institutions in Nigeria to have a thorough understanding of the essentials of effective leadership, corporate governance and workplace ethics and apply these principles in their day to day formulation of policies, processes leading to the desired cultural and socio = economic development in line with the ethos of the new Nigeria”.
The training modules delivered by international experts from London and their Nigerian counterpart was agreed by all the delegates as “ one of the best training they have ever had in their working career”. Hajia Laraba Shaibu (CAC, Director of Human Resources) advised delegates to learn the international best practices of effective leadership and corporate governance being taught at training so that they could apply the principles in their respective areas of work and thereby ultimately deliver efficient and effective services to all its customers and stakeholders.
