ABAKALIKI—EBONYI State government yesterday recalled the Special Adviser to Governor David Umahi on Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, Chief Jeremiah Oketa for alleged involvement in fraudulent practices.
Oketa was suspended from office two weeks ago.
The Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Senator Emmanuel Onwe stated this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of this week’s executive council meeting.
He said Oketa has been re-designated as Special Adviser on Executive Council matters.
According to him, the Special Adviser on Transport, Chief Philip Ewuru was re-designated as S.A on Executive Council decision.
Onwe who did not explain why Ewuru was re-designated, stated that it is the prerogative of Governor Umahi to appoint, re-appoint, designate and re-designate.
He said the Fiscal Responsibility Commission has been directed to investigate what happened in the transport sector since he assumed office.
He revealed that two Special Advisers incharge of ICT and Petroleum; Chief Aja Nwabueze and Chief Basil Chima were asked to leave the executive council and seek ways of generating revenue for the state government.
