ABUJA—ONGOING brawl over deployment of top executives at the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, may have taken a new dimension with the intervention of the National Assembly.
The legislative intervention came with a letter signed by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Salisu Maikasuwa, dated December 15, 2015 and addressed to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, urging him to regularise the postings made recently at NAFDAC.
The letter also urged him to bring the development at NAFDAC to the attention of President Muhammadu Buhari and other relevant government agencies.
In the letter Maikasuwa said the Senate had sat and deliberated on the report on the petition against NAFDAC’s recent executive deployments and resolved that “Mrs. Esther Amuta be immediately restored to her position as the temporary Head/Deputy Director in charge of FSAN (Food Safety and Applied Nutrition) Directorate, pending the appointment of a substantive Director to that position.”
