Five worshippers dead in Benue auto crash

No fewer than five persons have been reported dead with several others sustaining various degrees of injury in a  motor accident which occurred on New Year day at Wannune, in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State.

According to an eye witness, the accident involved a truck conveying over 50 members of the Universal Reformed Christian Church, URCC, otherwise known as NKST, to Gboko Local Government Area of the state.

The members of the Achusa and High Level branches of the church  were said to be going for the annual NKST Conference  when the vehicle skidded off the road  and ended in the bush. The eye witness added that the driver of the truck was trying to avoid a pothole on the road when he lost control.

It was gathered that those injured were rushed to a public hospital in Tarka, Gboko for treatment while relations of the passengers tried to locate their beloved ones to establish their condition.
