Early child education pivotal to nation’s devt

By Elizabeth Uwandu

THE Consultative Group on Early Childhood Care and Development, has called on the education community to invest in early child education as it is a cornerstone to national development.

The group made this known in a report titled ‘The Importance of Early Childhood Development to Education’, that  investment in young children must be a cornerstone of government’s policies, development cooperation, global frameworks and responsible business practices.

In addition, the Group said current and future global developmental goals, including education goals, will only be met with  increased attention to and investment in the overall development of young children  (0-8 years).

They also advocated on the importance of  parental guidance and the role the environment plays in a child’s education, saying ”the caregivers responsible for them, and the context in which families are living in are inextricably linked to sustainable development.”
