Ibe deserves first team chance, Murphy tells Klopp

Danny Murphy has urged Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to give youngster Jordon Ibe a chance in the first team.

The 20-year-old is highly rated at Anfield, with many hoping he can follow in the footsteps of Raheem Sterling in becoming a first team star.

He has struggled under new manager Jurgen Klopp with the German preferring the likes of Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana ahead of him on the wings.

He has started eight games since Klopp took charge, and was once again left on the bench for Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Manchester United.

And Murphy says he was surprised by that decision, saying the youngster should be handed a chance in the first team.

“Jordon Ibe is well thought of at the club and I think he could go on to be a really good player for Liverpool,” he told TalkSport.

“He need games to gain a bit of confidence, and when you play more often you get that confidence.”

“I love his pace and his ability to go past people. I was surprised he didn’t start against United, I really was. I’m not sure Jurgen Klopp knows his best 11 at the moment.”
