Businessman docked over alleged theft of goods worth N50m

A 24-year-old businessman, Edafe Daniel, was on Monday arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing shipping documents and clearing goods valued at N50 million. Daniel, whose address is unknown, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and theft.

Judge, son docked over false information

lagos—An Anambra-based lawyer, Chinelo Egini 61, who is a customary court president, and her son, Valentine Egini, 32, have been arraigned before Igbosere Magistrate Court, Lagos, for providing false information to the police against her brothers. The accused, who were arraigned on four-count charge, before Magistrate W.B. Balogun, were said to have accused Messrs, Godwin Obedike, Chikewe Igweke and Fidelis Obedike of stealing N40 million from WECO systems international limited as well as sponsoring illegal organisation against the Nigerian state and importation of fake and expired drugs.

65 more refineries, Hurray – but…

The release of licenses, in June this year, to 65 Nigerian companies to establish local refineries must be welcome news to everyone who is unhappy with the overwhelming Foreign Exchange bill for our fuel imports. The licenses were granted barely two weeks after President Buhari’s inauguration, and probably provide a strong indication of PMB’s burning desire to reduce Nigeria’s huge fuel import bill and hopefully also reduce or eliminate the incidence of subsidy in fuel pricing.
