Buruj Kashamu

ABEOKUTA—The immediate-past Senator who represented Ogun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Gbenga Kaka and his successor, Senator Buruji Kashamu, yesterday, traded words over constituency projects in the area.
While Senator Kaka accused Kashamu of allegedly claiming to have facilitated constituency projects he knew nothing about, Kashamu described the allegation as funny, saying, government is a continuum and that Kaka influenced the inclusion of some projects in the budget, he was able to do because he was a senator.
Kaka reacted to a statement made by Senator Kashamu during a reception held for the incumbent lawmaker by members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state in Ijebu Igbo penultimate Saturday.
Kashamu had reportedly told members of the PDP during the reception that he had facilitated two major projects, including the construction of a block of three classrooms each in Japara High School, Ijebu Igbo in Ijebu North Local Government and Ansar-ud-Deen High School, Isiwo in Ijebu Ode Local Government areas of the state.
But Senator Kaka, while fielding questions from newsmen after he inspected some of the projects he had embarked on, yesterday, described it as unthinkable that his successor would go to the extent of erecting sign boards at the sites of the two projects, claiming to have facilitated them to the areas.
Kaka said although he harboured no grudges against Kashamu, he had to set the records straight, having facilitated and executed close to 60 major projects in his constituency in his four-year tenure.
