Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, has congratulated the Bayelsa State Governor and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Seriake Dickson for having the people of Bayelsa behind him during the state's governorship election, which was on Monday, declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, even as he described Bayelsans as "worthy heroes of democracy, for showing that their power is more than that of the Abuja political oppressors."

Subsidy on kerosene should be stopped – NLPGA

The Nigeria Liquefied Petroleum Gas Association (NLPGA) on Monday advised the Federal Government to stop what it called the “kerosene subsidy racket”. The association alleged that the subsidy racket had gulped over N1.7 trillion in six years. Dayo Adesina, the President of the association, told newsmen in Lagos that the amount being used by government to subsidise kerosene s could be used to encourage the use of cooking gas.

Gate-keeper docked for allegedly defiling employer’s under-age daughter

A 29-year-old gate-keeper, Taoridi Usman, who allegedly defiled his employer’s 11-year-old daughter was on Monday docked at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court. The accused, who lives in his employer’s residence at 27, Amosu Close, Ojokoro, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a charge of defilement.

Boy, 16, charged with defiling 2 minors

A 16-year-old teenager, who allegedly defiled two minors, was on Monday docked before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court. The accused, a student, who lives at Oke-Ira, Ogba, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a four-count charge bordering on defilement and assault.
