ASABA—Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has congratulated former governor of the state, Olorogun Felix Ibru, on his 80th birthday.

Okowa, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu, described Ibru who, as a senator represented Delta Central senatorial district, as a patriot and political icon who led the state in her embryonic stage.

Okowa said that the birthday was a celebration of the attainment of another significant milestone in a long, fulfilled and achievement-laden life.

He said Senator Ibru entered the elite club of the world’s highly revered octogenarians and very special people who have made significant and indelible contributions to their countries and humanity.

Joining his family, friends and associates in giving thanks to God for Ibru’s glorious life of service to Delta State, Nigeria, Okowa commended Ibru for his dedication and indefatigable commitment to the service of the people of the state as well as the Urhobos worldwide where he served them meritoriously as senator and as President of Urhobo Progress Union, UPU.
