Nsukka—A middle-aged man has allegedly committed suicide in Ibagwa Ani community, Nsukka Local Government Area, Enugu State over an un-established issue.
Vanguard gathered that the deceased, identified as Chukwudi Ugwuanyi (44) was said to have returned from Abuja where he owned a business, spent two days in the village, only to be discovered hanging from a tree in the village.
His relations wondered what could be the cause of the suicide of their brother, who returned home to put finishing touches to his building in readiness for the Christmas celebration, only to take his own life.
Meanwhile, Enugu State police command has commenced investigations to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of the man.
The corpse of the deceased, Chukwudi had been deposited at Bishop Shanahan Hospital, Nsukka for autopsy.
In another development, Enugu Sate mobile police force, MOPOL 3, has arrested two students along Abakpa/ Opi Road, who concealed a local made double barrel pistol in a loaf of bread while on board a commercial vehicle.
The suspects, Omekwoli Olisa, 25 who resides at GRA Nsukka, was said to be a student of a tertiary institution and Ezeugwu Chinedu, 23 who hails from Ihe-owerre community in Nsukka council, were nabbed by the operatives during a stop and search operation.
The two were said to have made confessional statements to police on their mission with the local pistol discovered in a loaf of bread.
Contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the two incidents, saying that investigations had commenced, while the two suspects are assisting the Police in their investigation.
