Abia to introduce special security equipment to fight crime

ABA—Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has promised that his administration will mount special security equipment in Aba and other parts of the state to help Police fight crime effectively.

The governor through his Special Adviser on Security Matters, Capt. Udonsi Agwu (retd) at a one-day stakeholders’ forum on security in Aba, Abia State said, that part of his administration’s plans was to make Aba and other parts of the state conducive for growth of economic activities.

He said, “Plans have reached advanced stage to provide operational vehicles equipped with modern communication gadgets for the Police and other security agencies in the state to enhance inter-agency communication and improve their response time to distress calls from members of the public. The governor has also concluded plans to mount Close Circuit Cameras, CCTV and vehicle tracking devices at some strategic places in Aba and other places as is obtainable in modern societies. Such step would discourage hoodlums and criminals from making the state their safe haven.”

He explained that the ongoing construction and rehabilitation of roads in Aba and other parts of the state by the current government when completed would not only give the state a facelift, but  improve economic/business activities and security in the state.
