YENAGOA—Residents of Yenagoa in Bayelsa State, South South Nigeria have praised the next generation network, Globacom, for its people-oriented and free entertainment shows, which have been touring the country since August.

Last Sunday, November 22, the Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre, in the oil-rich city of Yenagoa,  rolled out the green carpet to welcome the comedy version of the twin shows tagged Glo Laffta Fest from Enugu.

For the comedians who performed at last Sunday’s event, the Yenagoa edition of the show was a great home-coming and an avenue to re-unite with their home fans.

The comedians who entertained the crowd in Yenagoa included Glo ambassador, Bovi, who anchored the show, Okey Bakassi, Gandoki, Gordons, Arinze Baba, Odogwu and Selebo. Glo ambassadors, Sammie Okposo and M.I, thrilled the audience with their hit tracks, while DJ Neptune manned the turntable.

Others who also performed, include Weleke Akpors Stanley, also known as  ‘SimCard’; Iniedogi Pekene, popularly called ‘Barrack Pikin’, and Gift Loveday, otherwise known as Aproko, are comedians who grew up in Yenogoa before setting out to Lagos and other parts of the country to pursue a career in stand-up comedy.

Coincidentally, Simcard had lived part of his life in Yenagoa where he bagged a law degree from the Niger Delta University, Amassoma. Reliving his days in Yenagoa, Sim Card said he felt really good coming home to perform and thanked Globacom for the opportunity.

“I feel good coming to my base, Yenagoa, to perform. It has been a while. Shows of this magnitude rarely happen here. It’s very commendable for Globacom to remember my people,” he said.
