Uyo—Akwa Ibom State governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has said that his administration was committed to the welfare of workers in the employment of the state government.
Emmanuel, who stated this yesterday at the monthly prayer summit held at the Latter House Chapel, Government House, Uyo, also announced that modalities were being worked out for the payment of severance benefits to political office holders in the local governments across the state.
He said that his administration would ensure prompt payment of salaries to workers despite the economic downturn while gratuities and other entitlements were being paid in batches.
The governor directed the new Head of Service, Mrs Ekerebong Akpan, to ensure that civil servants due for promotion were promoted to their appropriate cadres.
