FirstPost Media Enterprise, publishers of FirstPost News magazine has said it will be holding its 2015 award with the theme, “Sustainable Development,” on December 19, 2015, in Lagos.
Being the maiden edition, the Publisher, FirstPost News magazine, Clementina Olomu, said the essence is to reward people who have come up with sustainable programmes which has imparted immensely into the lives of people.
According to Olomu, “we at FirstPost Media Enterprise firmly believe that for any country to have sustainable programmes for the future generations, all hands must be on deck. The individuals, the families, the society and government must live up to its responsibilities.”
“This award is unique and varies from other awards as its aimed at rewarding those who have consistently dedicated their time, energy and resources to better the lots of the people around.”
Speaking further, she said “We can only have the Nigeria of our dreams when people are inspired, empowered and giving a sense of belonging. We can only have a better Nigeria when the rights of citizens are not trampled on, particularly by politicians who take advantage of them. Over the years, we have seen politicians who come up with lofty programmes ideas, financial assistance and lots of promises which most times are not fulfilled once they get into power.”
Against this backdrop, Olomu said “the nominees were tactfully selected by members of the committee made up of people with vast experience and expertise of developments and happenings within the country. So they are knowledgeable with the facts of what is happening and who is doing what, but at the same time, Nigerians are also given an opportunity to nominate and cast votes for their choice nominees, as they log on to our Facebook page, Firstpost.
“However, prospective voters are made to meet up with conditions attached to those choices, before their entry can be accepted.”
Olomu said, the nominees categories ranges from Exemplary Leadership, Firstlady Leadership, Widows Upliftment, Entertainment Mentor of the Year, Philanthropist of the Year, Rewarding Family Brand, Most Caring Entertainer of the Year, Company of the Year for the Best Corporate Social Responsibility and Brand of the Year.
