Ebonyi State government workers have been enjoined to adopt information and communication technology, ICT, to improve efficiency and drive human and natural infrastructure in the state.

The Special Assistant, SA, to the Governor on ICT, Prince Aja  Igwe, gave the advice  during a familiarisation visit to the State Staff Development Centre, in Abakaliki.

Prince Igwe told the staff of the centre that the state governor, Engr. David Umahi,  was  poised to make Ebonyi an ICT-driven state for industrialisation and economic diversification.

Igwe, who said he was at the centre to build a synergy that would enhance capacity building in the state through ICT, stated  that proper integration of his office with the  centre would  bring about the actualisation of the governor’s idea of digitalizing the state.

The SA, who used the opportunity to inspect facilities at the centre, however, decried the absence of technical personnel at the centre, adding that the government had invested so much on the project, and that it was a wonderful project that required special attention so that the  facilities could be used to improve the economic sector of the state, especially in the area internal revenue.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service, Manpower Development and Service Welfare, Chief Oliver Eze, while appreciating the Special Assistant   for   identifying with them at the centre, said that over 4,000 civil and public servants had been trained by the Office of the Head of Service in a bid to make workers in the state ICT-compliant.
