LAGOS—Lagos State Rapid Response Squad, RRS, special squad attached to the Lagos State Government weekend arrested at least 40 social miscreants at different black spots in the state.
The suspects were arrested around Oshodi, Jibowu, Victoria Island, Mile 002, Ajegunle, Ijora and Law school under bridge.
Some of the suspects arrested were identified as: Mohammed Ibrahim, 42; Pius Ofulue, 32; Wale Adegoke, 18; Musbau Akande, 18; Achibong Okon, 29; Charles Itua, 47; Edward Samuel, 35 and Damilola Faloye, 20.
The arrest according to Commander of the RRS, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Olatunji Disu, is an onslaught against criminals in all parts of the metropolis by the state government in order to create a secured environment for prospective investors and to secure lives and properties of the residents, especially in the ember month.
He said: ‘’Arrest will be a continuous one as the state Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode is determined to rid the state of criminals and create an enabling environment for peaceful co-existence among residents and business owners.”
“We are ready to challenge and confront the latest upsurge in crime in the state. Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has given us marching order for the black spots to be combed, ’No going back.'”
He stated further that the spate of armed robbery and criminal activities in the state would soon be a thing of the past, with surveillance of some major black spots across the state and arrest of criminals in hundreds.
