LOKOJA—The Oba of Illah Bunu, Kabba/Bunu local government area of Kogi State, His Riyal Highness, Oba Folorunsho Ikutanwa, has hailed the government of Capt Idris Wada for paying necessary attention to rural development.

Gov. Idris Wada

The royal father made the commendation in his palace in a chat with Vanguard, saying Governor Wada had shown that governance was not all about urban renewal but also charting a sustained rural transformation agenda.

He said: “One of the achievements of the present administration in the state is the attention given to rural communities. Through different government agencies, the governor has been able to provide infrastructures for improved rural life.

“What people at the rural areas demand for are not beyond the government. They want potable water, good roads and improved medical facilities.

“They want good schools for their children that will be able to compete with their counterparts anywhere in the country.”

“In these areas, I rate the government of Capt. Idris Wada high. Instead of harping on urban roads, we need to see how the governor has affected lives  of the rural dwellers through provision of water and healthcare.

“The agricultural policies of the government has also impacted positively on the largely agrarian rural population.

“One area I will want the government to also pay attention to is the welfare of our senior citizens. The issue of pensions and gratuities should be treated with utmost sense responsibility for which the government of Capt Idris Wada is known.”
