The youth president of Obung community in Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State, Mr. Philip Ogar, has expressed his community’s delight that the 260 kilometer superhighway being undertaken by Governor Ben Ayade’s administration is passing through their land.
Ogar, who spoke yesterday, said the super-highway would bring a lot of benefits to his people and other communities which the road would pass through, stressing that the youths of his community and other neighboring communities were excited about the superhighway and were happy with what the governor was doing.
According to him, the multi-billion naira project would open up their area to development as many businesses would spring up to create employment opportunities for the people. He noted that every member of his community including the chiefs, elders, women and the youths were hopeful and happy about the project.
The youth president commended the governor for his vision and drive, assuring that his community would support the governor and ensure that the project was achieved.
Speaking while inspecting the progress of work, the Special Assistant, Technical, Mr. Eric Akpo, said bulldozing works and clearing of path were going on steadily.
Akpo said about12 kilometers earth work had been achieved despite relentless rainfall.
Also speaking, the Environmental Manager Assistant, Mr. Francis Njeni, disclosed that they were taking stock of the different species of trees that had been cleared to give way for the road.
