The Niger Delta Presidential Amnesty Office has commenced collaboration with key national and international groups, saying that it is poised to achieving new targets set to boost job opportunities for its trainees.

The coordinator of the programme, Brig. General Paul Boroh (rtd), who confirmed this in Abuja disclosed that his office has already met the short-term target to clear the arrears of allowances owed delegates and is on course to meeting the medium term target of setting up strategic partnerships with key government agencies and state governments of the Niger Delta.

General Boroh explained that these partnerships aim to boost skills utilisation to close existing development gaps particularly in the Niger Delta region and Nigeria at large.

The coordinator stated he has kick-started the process by meeting international interest groups such as the United States agency for International Development, USAID, Japan International Cooperation Agency, JICA, the UK’s Department for International Development, DFID.

Others include the United Nations Development Progrmme, UNDP and several international missions and embassies in Nigeria.
While stressing the importance of partnering with these interest groups, General Boroh, explained that it would help create viable job opportunities for trained delegates under the programme for sustainable reintegration.

Meanwhile, Gen. Boroh said the Niger Delta Presidential Amnesty Office and the federal ministry of Niger Delta Affairs are currently working together to boost skills utilization to close existing development gaps in the area.
