The Nigerian contingent to this weekend’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between the Taifa Stars of Tanzania and the Super Eagles should expect a very ‘hostile’ atmosphere as the Tanzania Football Federation is not leaving anything to chance in its determination to ensure their team secure the maximum three points.

Speaking with the local press, Secretary General of the TFF Mwesiga Celestine called on all Tanzanians to rally round the national team as only through that way could they be motivated to beat the Eagles.

The TFF scribe stressed the significance of the match to the country as the Taifa Stars are yet to qualify for the continental fiesta in the last 35 years. “We  have to break this jinx; 35 years of failure must end now and we can only achieve that by giving our team the support,” he said, adding, “let us therefore, cheer the team to the 2017 Afcon finals.”

Meanwhile reports from the Stars’ camp indicate that injury has again taken its toll on the team as Mansfield Town’s striker, Adi Yussuf has been dropped from the encounter against the Eagles. The TFF scribe confirmed the development just as he added that another South African based player, Mrisho Ngassa who plays for Free State has also been dropped for what he termed as “technical reasons.”
