The management of the Federal Science and Technical College, FSTC, Yaba, is demanding a public apology from Vanguard Media over a published editorial cartoon in which the school was portrayed to be too expensive for the average civil servants, owed several months salaries.

Giving a break-down of the Federal Government approved fees for all Unity Colleges, the Principal of the college, Rev. Chris Ugorji, stressed that said cartoon would not have been offensive if it had been done alongside the fees of other unity schools.

Presenting signed copies of the approved fees for new intakes, Ugorji said “this are the fees approved by the Federal Ministry of Education though individual schools can add some things to suit them.

“In our case, because we want to maintain uniformity and high standards, we insist that students would have to buy customised college wears, shoes and sandals from the school.

“This amounts to N37,700 for male and N36,700 for female students.”

Also they would have to get their classroom lockers, bunk bed, and customised mattress and pillows from us at the cost of N23,500 for boarders and N5,000 for day students.
