Free screening, treatment for fertility challenged couples

By Gabriel Olawale

As part of its commitment to mitigate the challenge of infertility in Nigeria,  the Fertility Treatment Support Foundation, FTSF, is offering free fertility screening and full treatment to Nigerian couples looking for the fruit of the womb.

The initiative which is part of the organisation’s 2015 edition of the “Little Miracles” contest holds September 17 through October 18, 2015.

At a press conference in Lagos, the Lead Counsellor, FTSF, Mrs. Esther Adigwe said the number of couples confronting with fertility challenges is  increasing and at the same time the need for assisted reproductive treatment was rising.

Affordability

“However the affordability of the treatment is one of the most common causes for concern of the fertility-challenged couples and in order to keep the dreams of the fertility-challenged couples alive FTSF decided to be of help since its inception in 2008.”

Adigwe disclosed that the programme has brought joy and happiness to a lot of couples in which not less than 126 less privileged couples had benefited from the programme.

“We also provide educative and enlightenment programmes to the public and the medical professionals.”

“This year edition will offer free screening to 15 couples while five couples will receive the full treatment. Entries will be done via an electronic raffle draw. Simply text free IVF, your names and phone number to 09081190600 or 08080800156.

The draw event will hold on 25th October,” She added

Adigwe, however, encouraged couples to speak out and seek better education on needed assistance, “It is the desire of the foundation to make available this free treatment on a quarterly basis as funds avail.

She craved support of the government, corporate bodies and well-meaning individuals to ensure the cause remained sustainable in order to continually bring joy to families.
