Amadu Vincent Chukwubuike, aka Rexy Brown, is relatively new in the music industry, but he believes he has what it takes to reign as king in the not-so-distant future.

The artiste who hails from Anambra State asserts that with his unique combination of English, Igbo and Yoruba in his songs, music lovers will be entertained the more by his music in no time.

Presently signed on to ICE T. A. Record label, Rexy Brown is set to release into the market soon a new single featuring J. Martins.

Speaking on the new single and his style of music, he said, “I’m into RnB, dancehall, and I play around with different styles of music. I believe I’m gifted. I’ll be coming up soon with a new single titled ‘Hello My Baby,’ featuring my boss, J. Martins. Working with J. Martins was great because he is a methodical person. He takes his time and does things gradually. The video will follow soon after that. I sing in English, Yoruba and Igbo, so the combination of those three languages is my selling point. My dance skill is also another thing my fans should watch out for.”

He went on, “I’m not in the industry to compete with anybody; rather, I’ll focus on bringing out the best in me. In terms of surviving in the industry, I believe everybody has his individual gifts. I have my own unique style and I believe I’ll do well.”

Shedding light on his background, he said, “I grew up and started my music career in Lagos in 2009 before I moved to South Africa, where I continued recording songs. It was also in South Africa that I met my label owners, Toklins and Aghaego. I used to perform in Cape Town and my music was well received.

“My dad is late, but my mom is very much alive and she has been very supportive of my career. Right now, I’m a student of Lagos State University (LASU), studying computer science. I contribute to social activities in school, and I also perform too.”

On artistes he’ll like to work with, he said, “I’ll like to work with artistes like Wande Coal, Davido, Wizkid, Flavour, Phyno, and many others. Flavour is from the same town with me in Anambra State, and when I met him once, I told him I’d like to work with him, and he said whenever I’m ready, I should call on him.”

How is he going to handle fame and women? He said, “When it comes to fame, it depends on where you’re coming from and your background. It gets to most of us artistes, but it also boils down to the people around you, and the people you listen to. I think I’ll be able to handle it by the grace of God.

“Women are our greatest fans, and I have a good relationship with my female fans. Without women today, I won’t be here. If I don’t appreciate them, it means I don’t appreciate my mother. However, one has to be careful and prayerful when dealing with them because sometimes, you may not go for them, but they’ll come for you. I’m actually in a relationship at the moment, but no, I don’t have a love child anywhere.”

Also speaking on the reason Rexy Brown was signed to the label, ICE T. A. Record label executive, Aghaego stated, “I love music, but I’m a businessman based in Port-Harcourt. Rexy Brown is my childhood friend …. I listened to his songs, and I believe he will go far because he is talented. I’m comfortable with him and that’s why I’m sponsoring him.”

His partner, Tochukwu Kenneth aka Tokliens Empire also noted that though the label only has Rexy Brown on its payroll for now, there are plans to expand further. According to him, “We still have plans to sign other artistes, whether female or male, young or old; so far the person is good, we’re ready to work with them.”
