Robbers trail man from bank in Ogun, arrested

ABEOKUTA—Men of Ogun State Police Command, yesterday, arrested two suspected armed robbers for allegedly trailing and robbing a bank customer of the money he withdrew at a new generation bank in Ado-Odo/ Otta Local Government Area of the state.

The two suspects, Victor Igoche, 32, who hails from Benue State, and Thomas Frank, 34, from Delta State, were said not to have fixed residential address when they were arrested.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement that the operatives attached to Onipanu Division of Ogun State Police Command made the arrest on Tuesday at 3:30p.m.

Adejobi said: “The police detectives, who were assisted by some members of the community and Vigilante Service of Ogun State, swung into action and raced to the house of the victim, where two suspected armed robbers were arrested, and their operational vehicle, a black Audi A4 car with number plates KTU 629 CU, was recovered.

“The suspects have confessed to have been involved in many robbery operations and other crimes in the area and they have been charged to court on Wednesday (yesterday) by the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, Eleweran, Abeokuta, as directed by the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, Abbdulmajid Ali.

“The Commissioner of Police has commended the police detectives and members of the public and Vigilante Service for the good job they have done.

“He, however, urged members of the public to avoid moving with cash and be conscious of their environment whenever they embarked on any transaction in banks or cash centres.

“The police boss also assured the people of Ogun State of adequate protection of lives and property and improved security networking within the state.”
