ENUGU—The Court of Appeal, Enugu Division, yesterday, dismissed the appeal filed by governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Okey Ezea, in the April 11 governorship election for lack of merit and competence. Ezea filed a petition at the election tribunal sitting in Enugu challenging the declaration by Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as winner at the poll.

The Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr Emmanuel Kachikwu, and other stakeholders argued, yesterday, that fuel subsidy was an unsustainable drain on the economy and called for speedy deregulation of the nation’s oil and gas sector.

Bayelsa born former policeman turned politician Serikae Dickson prepared himself in public advocacy through his training in law school after quitting the police. Dickson started his political advocacy from the left and had the distinguished record of being the only state chairman of the Alliance for Democracy, AD in the South-South to produce a senator, members of the House of Representatives and the House of Assembly at the onset of democratic rule in 1999. OWERRI—Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, has advised loyalists of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to stop losing sleep over his earlier stand that the All Progressives Congress, APC, would govern Imo for 24 years. Okorocha gave the advice in a press statement signed by his media aide, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, and made available to journalists in Owerri.
