Details of two bank accounts of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, of Yobe State, Mr. Abu Zarma, which showed that N15 million was lodged into his accounts few days before the April 11 election, has been admitted into evidence by the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in the state.

The naira yesterday could not sustain the gains recorded on Wednesday, as it depreciated against the US dollar in the parallel market, closing at N222 to a dollar. This represents a depreciation of N7 from Wednesday when a dollar exchanged for N215 in Lagos and Kano, and N220 to a dollar in Abuja.

THE Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) has cautioned against the call for the ban of hijab in Nigeria, especially in the northern part of the country. In a statement by the National President of the association, Hajia Amina B. Omoti, the association reiterated that the banning of the use of hijab is not the solution to the insecurity in the region.
