Bauchi—Bauchi State government has said it made sacrifices to settle the three months outstanding salaries of workers in order to improve effective service delivery of the state civil service.

The state governor, Mohammed Abubakar,  who made this known during the 2015 NLC State Level School at the Secretariat of the Nigerian Union of Teachers in the state yesterday, noted that the welfare of civil servants in the state was one of the top priorities of the state government.

The governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Nuhu Gidado, said despite the dwindling resources of the state, the state government was able to pay workers three months outstanding salaries to established a worker-friendly state.

He said: “Barely two months that the administration came into inception, the government succeeded in paying three months salaries owed workers and very soon, the remaining outstanding salaries will be paid to workers.

“It could be recalled that N5 billion was given to the state from the Federal Government out of its sale of liquid natural gas. This money collected from the federal government was not meant for the payment of salaries, but the state sacrificed it to pay workers.”
