DONATION:From left: General Manager, Twinings Ovaltine Nigeria, Mr Enrico Liggeri; Marketing Manager for Ovaltine, Mrs. Kemi Saliu; Managing Director, DHL Express Nigeria, Mr. Randy Buday and National President, Medical Women Association of Nigeria, Dr. Valerie Obot during the handing over of Ovaltine beverages to DHL Express for delivery to IDP Camps in Yola, Adamawa State.IN the bid to meet the nutritional needs of Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in Yola, Adamawa State, Twinings Ovaltine Nigeria Limited and DHL Express Nigeria, last week unveiled a strategic joint partnership to donate and transport Ovaltine beverages to inhabitants of the Yola Camp. Speaking at a joint media briefing in Lagos to validate this commitment, General Manager, Twinings Ovaltine Nigeria Limited, Mr. Enrico Liggeri, said the two organisations are leveraging the partnership to amplify their Corporate Social Responsibility commitment in Nigeria.
Liggeri said his company was particularly touched by the displaced persons’ need for highly nutritious food most especially children, nursing mothers and the aged to remain healthy as government at all levels continue to facilitate their permanent resettlement.
”This gesture by Ovaltine and DHL Express is all about responding to the humanitarian need of the displaced persons at this critical moment of their life. We feel their pain and the need to be provided with nutritious food so they can remain healthy and be able to live active an life in spite of their current predicament”, he said.
Further, Ligerri explained that under the partnership, Ovaltine is providing the free products while DHL Express provides the air and road transportation free of charge, from Lagos to Yola. “I urge more Nigerians and corporate organisations to demonstrate their disposition to human kindness and compassion by coming forward in assisting the displaced persons.
“They need our comfort, they need our succor. They have found themselves in a situation they did not plan; the best we can do in this circumstance is to offer them a shoulder to lean on.”
Corroborating his view, the Managing Director DHL Express Nigeria, Mr. Randy Buday, said, “DHL Nigeria is pleased to support the initiative by Ovaltine to bring nourishment to the displaced persons. This is in line with our corporate strategy and we are committed to making a difference in the communities within which we operate. As the largest express logistics company in Nigeria, we are in a very fortunate position to be able to partner with Twinnings Ovaltine and we trust that our contribution will make a tangible difference to the people in the IDP Camp in Yola.”
Representative, MWAN, Dr. Valerie Obot commended the management teams of the two companies for identifying with the victims and providing them nourishment.
