Awka—THE Anambra State congress of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was held weekend in Awka, with Prince Kenneth Emeakayi emerging the state chairman.

Results of other officials that emerged during the congress were yet to be declared by the five –man congress committee led by Mr. Ike Abonyi from Enugu State.

Though Emeakayi, the former state chairman of the party, was the only aspirant for the position, the delegates from all the 326 wards who were elected during the ward and local government congresses conducted earlier last week, still cast their votes as required by the party’s guidelines.

At the end of the exercise, Emeakayi polled 958 votes, while nine votes were voided.

The congress, which was held under very tight security provided by the police and the Department of State Service, DSS, was monitored by the administrative secretary of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
