As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Boulos Enterprises Ltd, and Suzuki Motors Corporation of Japan recently embarked on beach cleaning exercise at the Orimedun Palm Beach, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos. The event provided an opportunity for dealers, users of Boulos products and general public to clean up the sea shore by picking up all forms of dirts and debris around the beach.
According to Mrs. Titi Olodun who explained that the event was an annual event by her company in conjunction with Suzuki Corporation Japan, it was their way of canvassing for a clean and healthy environment. “As part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility aimed at improving the safety of the ecological system as well as reducing environmental pollution harmful to human existence, this initiatives has been organised by Boulos and Suzuki Motor Corporation Japan,” she said.
Continuing, she said, Suzuki marine always aimed to provide excitement and satisfaction and give our customers a great day on the water, in a clean and healthy environment.” The clean up exercise, she further explained, was in conjunction with their dealers, users, staff, fishing communities and the general public located around the waterside where people enjoy boating and fishing.
For this year’s activity, she said it coincided with Suzuki’s 50th anniversary. Meanwhile, a statement by Boulos said that the campaign was also aimed at ensuring the safety of the ecological system and reducing all forms of environmental pollution harmful to human existence. The Managing Director of Boulos Enterprises, Mr. Julian Hardy, in a statement said the company felt the need to continue to contribute to the wellbeing of the society, particularly its host communities, as part of its corporate social responsibility.
He also spoke on a number of products just introduced by the company to the Nigerian market, including the four-stroke outboard engine, which he noted as suitable to the company’s climatic and water conditions. Hardy said the old two-stroke engine had been phased out due to its pollution, but regretted that it was still being smuggled into the country.
The new four-stroke, he said, came with a lot of benefits such as fuel efficiency, no pollution and less noise. He said that the clean up programme was meant to enlighten fishermen, market men, women and school children on the need to keep the environment clean at all times.
