Governor Henry Seriake Dickson
AS Bayelsa State’s governorship election draws near, the state House of Assembly, has overwhelmingly passed a vote of confidence in Governor Seriake Dickson, just as organised labour and youths in the state are rooting for his re-election.
According to the leader of Concerned Bayelsa Elders, CBE, Elder John Wilson, “It is becoming obvious that Dickson’s re-election bid to continue his good work has received a boost with the recent vote of confidence unanimously passed in him by the state House of Assembly.
“Also, the leadership of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, in Bayelsa State, have commended the Dickson administration, for regular payment of workers’ salaries.”
The CBE leader also argued that the payment of N242 billion out of former Governor Timipre Sylva’s N332 billion debt has propelled Ijaw youths, under the aegis of Ijaw Youth Vanguard, IYV, to plan a 1,000-man march in support of Dickson when he eventually returns from his vacation overseas.
Elder Wilson stressed that the endorsements were as a result of the impressive developmental initiatives of the Dickson-led administration.
