From July 24, the city of Port-Harcourt will be agog as the best of scrabble players from around the country will storm the city for the11th Shell Port Harcourt/2nd Nigeria Scrabble Players National  Open tournament .

Players will compete in five categories, including the masters, intermediate, open, female and veteran.

Athletes are expected to arrive on the 24, while competition begins on the 25.

In the Masters category, 18 games will be involved with Swiss pairings for round 1 and lagged pairings for the next 13 rounds and 4 King of the Hill, (KOH).

The winner in the masters category will cart home N300,000.00, intermediate category will get N200,000.00, while the Opens, female and the veterans categories  attract N100,000.00 each.

All other categories will involve 16 games with SWISS pairings for Round 1 and lagged pairings for the next 11 Rounds and 4 KOH.

According to a release by the organisers, the Local Organising Committee has already been set up with Engr. Ojior Osikhena as chairman. The event ends July 26.
