Nsukka — A veteran journalist, John Akor, has been crowned as the king of Nimbo Community in Uzo Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, Akor, who worked with the defunct National Concord Newspapers, received his staff of office as the Agaba Idu of Nimbo, from the immediate past administration of Governor Sullivan Chime in his Nimbo Community through the then Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs, Pastor Emeka Abugu.

A new trend is emerging within Owerri metropolis and it is the rising number of young men who take to major roads filling potholes and seeking financial gratification. Owerri, the capital of Imo State, is considered one of the hubs for entertainment or what the Owerri man refers to as the centre for good life. Unfortunately, most of the roads are in a bad shape.

Sources told the South East Voice that apart from 10 secondary and 24 primary schools illegally closed, hospitals, churches, markets and other government offices were equally forcefully shut down in the area within the same period. The Catholic Church which was the dominant Christian denomination in the area was sacked from Ette sometime in 2012 and was yet to re-open for full church activities at the time South East Voice visited last week.

Retired Police Commissioner, Mr. Titus Okoro, who was chairman, Security Committee of Enugu chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, in the last general elections, yesterday, warned against being used as a sacrificial lamb in the scandal over alleged misappropriation of N400 million sent from the party’s national headquarters to the state for campaign.
