Saraki’s victory shows politics is about negotiation not war – Sen. Orji

Sen. Theodore Orji (PDP-Abia) has ascribed the emergence of Sen. Bukola Saraki as the President of the Senate as a proof that politics is all about negotiation and not war. Orji, who spoke to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday after the adjournment of the first session of the 8th Senate, said that with negotiation, things work out better. The G7 group of industrialised nations has resolved to support President Muhammadu Buhari, the Senior Special Assistant to the Presidia on Media, Malam Garba Shehu, has said in a statement. Shehu said the group made the promise when the president met with the G7 leaders on Monday. He said the group took the step in acknowledgment of the manner in which Buhari emerged as president and the tremendous challenges facing the administration, especially in its efforts to combat Boko Haram.

El-Rufai downsizes ministries from 19 to 13

Gov. Nasiru El-Rufai of Kaduna State has reduced the number of ministries in the state from 19 to 13 for effective service delivery. The information is contained in a statement issued by Samuel Aruwan, the Special Assistant (Media and Publicity), to the governor in Kaduna on Tuesday. The statement added that the governor also reduced the number of commissioners to be appointed to 13. “Accordingly, the Kaduna State Government has announced the restructuring of its ministries from 19 to 13.
