THE national identity management scheme has been a subject of controversies since it was first muted in 1976. Ministers have been jailed for allegedly accepting bribes over its implementation, contracts awarded and cancelled, but most importantly, it has never been concluded. The previous attempt over 10 years ago ended with heaps of undistributed cards at local government offices.

IMHA bans distilling of Ogogoro without NAFDAC approval
Apparently alarmed by the huge death toll trailing the recent consumption of locally made gin, (Ogogoro) Imo State House of Assembly, IMHA, yesterday, passed a motion urging the Governor Rochas Okorocha to direct the State Ministry of Health to trace and prosecute anybody producing locally made gin without the approval of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC.
