Osogbo—A commercial  motorcyclist, popularly known as Okada rider, yesterday beat a 200 level student of Osun State University, UNIOSUN, Ikire campus, Tobi Alabi, to a state of coma at the gate of the institution.

It was gathered that Tobi, a student in the department of English Education in the university, was trying to separate two female students who were involved in a heated altercation with one another at the gate of the institution but drew the ire of the Okada rider who was said not to be pleased with his intervention.

Tobi recounted his ordeal after he recovered:  “I saw two female students fighting at the campus gate and I quickly moved to separate them so that they would not injure themselves.

‘’But the Okada riders at the spot who were watching the fight with keen interest and enjoying the drama themselves did not want me to stop them from fighting.

“The Okada riders insisted that I should allow the students to fight on but I said I would not do that because the girls could injure each other.

‘’As I separated the ladies, one of the Okada riders hit me with a stick and that was all I could remember until I was revived by some good samaritans who helped me when I fainted.’’
